For boyfriends and husbands around the world, there’s one question that can let hell break loose i.e. “Does this dress make me look fat?”. However, Amazon with a little help from Machine learning, has changed the way that question is answered.
Echo is Amazon’s machine learning miracle after the immense success of the Alexa. The $200 Amazon product scans your outfit and rates your look as per the latest fashion standards.
According to the complete report by The Verge’s own Natt Garun, “The Echo Look first leaked as a “security camera” back in March, and the photo matches exactly with what Amazon has announced today. The device comes with a built-in LED light, a microphone, and a base mount for you to attach it to the wall or leave it freestanding. It will also work with a companion app that has a Style Check feature to compare two outfits and rate which is better. As an aside, the Amazon iOS app offers a similar feature under the Programs and Features menu, if you don’t want to buy the Echo Look. The Echo version of the feature gives you a percentage rating of outfits based on a mix of algorithm and stylist opinions, while Outfit Compare on the Amazon app picks which outfit of the two it likes better.”
Amazon Echo can additionally carry out all of the functions that Alexa can. However, with this additional feature and a price tag of merely $200, Amazon might on the verge of releasing the very first ‘female favorite’ machine learning product. Amazon is also set to make their source code for the Alexa namely ‘LEX’ public to help developers from all over the world pitch in with newer functions. With Google Home as the direct competitor, the going might be tough. Nevertheless, with products like Alexa and Echo on the market, Amazon might be looking for a legendary defeat to Google.
