It seems like just yesterday the messaging app was released and took the world by storm. However, the fact remains that WhatsApp is at the very top of the world in terms of messaging applications. Facebook recently released their annual Q2 2017 earnings which clearly state that over 1 billion users are using WhatsApp every day now. It also stated how the ridiculously mugged story feature also reached staggering 250 million users each day. In addition to these facts, it is also stated that around 55 billion messages and 4.5 million photographs are exchanged each day.
Another surprising fact that The Verge noted in its article is that the number of users overseas exceeded the number of users in the United States. WhatsApp first surpassed 1 billion monthly users over a year ago during February 2016. The number has now multiplied to reach a daily number. The popularity overseas is known to be because of the low-cost 3G and 4G packages with additional WhatsApp usage. Some carriers in Spain even provide free usability for the application.
Another notable fact is the growth in the ‘WhatsApp Status’ on stories, if you may. The usage went from 175 million at the start of May 2017 to 200 million as of now. What this means is that in merely 2 months the feature gained over 75 million users. In comparison, Snapchat has a total of 166 million users a day while Instagram stories take the lead at 200 million users a day. So, not only has WhatsApp Status surpassed Snapchat but also its own strategic alliance i.e. Instagram. As for Facebook Stories, let’s not talk about the number that the epic fail feature on the application made. All in all, WhatsApp is at the top of its game as compared to its competitors. All you need to know is how to use WhatsApp effectively and you’re good to go with this app. Do you think there’s a statistic that we missed out on? Leave us a comment below.
